JACK REACHER COMES TO AMAZON PRIME

For those Lee Child and Jack Reacher fans out there, who have anxiously been waiting to finally put Tom Cruise firmly in their rear view mirror … the time has come!

Goodbye Tom. Hello Alan Ritchson. We FINALLY have a Reacher that we have spent years reading about. We just watched Episode 1 tonight. There are 8 episodes in this first season, all based on the first Reacher novel – “Killing Floor”.

Since “Killing Floor”was written 25 years ago, this season has a number of elements that have brought it up to date. It also references some things that were revealed in later published novels, but about things which preceded the events that take place in “Killing Floor”.

Deborah and I both love the character and are looking forward to this new season, almost as much as we are looking forward to seeing “Bosch: Legacy” whenever it airs on IMDB.

Here is a link to an excellent article which explores the differences and similarities between the new Reacher TV series and the original novels.

  1. thanks for this heads-up. I’ve read a few of the Reacher novels and thought they were great. And while Tom Cruise was fine as Reacher, he is not what I pictured Jack Reacher to look like. Glad that has been corrected. and please keep us informed of when the Bosch show comes out. Is IMDB another streaming service one must subscribe to? I hope not…

    1. This guy is definitely the Reacher from the books, except the picture I always have in my head is that book Reacher is a just a bit darker looking and a bit more foreboding. But overall, Ritchson is a great pick. I think he could have been a great choice for Superman in the movies as well. I read that he put on 30 pounds of muscle to play Reacher.

In episode 1, there is a classic Reacher bit right out of the books. Reacher is cornered by a bunch of convicts in a prison bathroom (or rather HE has cornered THEM. They just don’t know it, yet.) Reacher begins to count to 3. But when he reaches 2, he explodes on them. That is absolutely classic Reacher.

In another scene, Reacher avoids any type of confrontation, from a most definitely confrontational punk, just by staring him down. That scene is very believable. There is NO WAY that Tom Cruise pulls that scene off. 🙂

IMDB is a free streaming service. It is part of our normal list of apps included on our Smart TV. However, if you do not see it, you can just download the free IMDB app or website. You can do that on your phone as well. Before, you had to have Amazon Prime to get Bosch. Now it will be free.

The only release date information I have seen is that it will be released “sometime in 2022”. Okay. That narrows it down … a little.

P.S. We begin our long awaited Hawaii vacation on Thursday. You can be sure it will be worth a number of posts on my blog, including a few, I’m sure, while we are still on the islands.

      1. thanks for the info on IMDS; I just went to download it on my smart tv, but it was not one of the apps listed. I guess I’ll get the app on my phone and then stream it to the tv.

have a great trip to Hawaii! Look forward to reading some of your posts from there…
