145 – PUT THE IMMIGRANT RELOCATION DILEMMA RIGHT BACK IN THE LAPS OF DESANTIS AND ABBOTT (An Editorial)

The latest sideshow created by Governor’s DeSantis and Abbott with their transport of immigrants to New York City, Washington DC and Martha’s Vineyard could be put right back in the face of those clowns.

As much as those Governors have despicably politicized the immigrant situation at their borders, they do have a certain point.  At least in Texas, they ARE bearing the brunt of the immigration problem simply because of their geographic location.

The Biden Administration could effectively regain the initiative in this situation by implementing a federal policy to distribute refugees all around the country.  I am fairly sure that most Blue controlled states would fairly quickly implement procedures to identify places where refugees can be relocated.  I am almost as sure that most Red-controlled states would drag their heels and scream bloody murder.

The Biden Administration should set a deadline for all states to submit locations for where refugees can be relocated.  Once that is complete, a procedure could then be put in place to begin federally relocating refugees to alternating Red and Blue states. The initial emphasis should also be to try and place, whenever possible, immigrants in states where they already have family members.

Since Florida, Texas and Arizona claim to be so aggrieved by the current situation, it should be THEIR responsibility, as well as Congressional Republicans, to get other Red states in line to begin receiving immigrants.

Until that is done, the responsibility stays with the states who are currently receiving the immigrants.

Unlike Texas, Florida and Arizona, California and New Mexico do not appear to be having such extreme issues dealing with the influx of migrants.

It should also be pointed out that the only Republican solutions put forward so far have been to build a supposed border wall, and to separate children from immigrant families. NICE!

Waiting for some sort of Congressional agreement, much less guidance, on how to address the immigrant situation at the borders is a fool’s errand.

That ain’t gonna happen!

The Biden Administration should take this action to address the immigrant situation and at the same time take away yet another issue that the Republicans are trying to tie around all Democratic necks.
